A bloody good cherry cheesecake, and no baking! Mar10

A bloody good cherry cheesecake, and no baking!

My Cherry Cheesecake is awesome for three reasons: It’s not too sweet, It requires no baking and It’s quick and easy to make. To be honest, I’m not a fan of baked cheesecake, so I decided to combine a medley of cherry cheesecake recipes and create my own version. It’s therefore not completely “MY” cheesecake, but rather a “Borrowed-from-many-people-with-my-own-twist” kinda cheesecake. You could try various toppings as opposed to cherries if you like – anything from apricot halves, cranberries, blueberries, raspberries and just about anything that entices you.  I like cherries and...

Layered Ratatouille Jan27

Layered Ratatouille

Since I saw animated film ‘Ratatouille’, I have been infatuated with Remi’s version of the classic vegetable dish. I loved the way the vegetables were thinly sliced and how the whole dish was presented. So off I went in search for a similar dish online and couldn’t find...

Everyday seems to be a scorcher outside and there is no sign of “Winter is Coming” (for “Game of Thrones” fans, you’d appreciate that one!) So when it’s this hot and your make-up is almost melting off your face, a fresh fruit desert is always welcome –...

Rosika’s Korma Chicken & Quinoa Jan27

Rosika’s Korma Chicken & Quinoa

Korma is a characteristic Indian dish and can be defined as meat or vegetables that are braised with Korma spices, water and yoghurt (kept just below curdling heat). The technique of this dish varies greatly from country to country, and even from region to region. For example, adding of dried coconut is a typical South Indian flavouring. While korma is mainly focussed on a slow cooking technique, I needed a faster method and though I have to admit that traditional korma certainly allows for more flavour (because it has a long cooking time), we simply don’t always have the time available to prepare a 4 hour masterpiece. A word of...

The Voice of God

Have you ever experienced hearing the voice of God? Most people would say “No.” But what is your perception of what it should sound like? Would it go something like this: And the skies opened and clouds parted and a fantastic light shone upon me. Then, with a loud thunder, I heard...

The Church Dilemma

U2′s lyrics rings: “Since they put Jesus in show business, it’s hard to get in the door.” And there is no business, like show business. Since I have spent serious time into delving a little deeper into religion and spiritualism than most people would on average dare to...

Horny Myth Jul24

Horny Myth

Most of my friends know that when it comes to Rhinos, I am very passionate about their well-being. I still can not understand how so many people (supposedly the ones that are doing a sterling job of making everything for cheaper and doing a damn good job of infiltrating the world very silently) still have the belief that Rhino Horn will cause him to have a harder or larger dick than he had yesterday. For fuck sakes you murdering idiots!! It is 2012 already! Never in the history of mankind or in the future, will Rhino Horn ever be proven to help in any ailments. It is after all, made of exactly the same substance as your own nails aka...

Egypt Reflections Dec06

Egypt Reflections

November 2010 took me on an 18-day journey that I have wanted to complete ever since I was a little girl, enthralled and mesmerized by the mysteries of Egypt. It was a rather expensive tour and as with all things in life, what you put in, you surely expect to get out. In fact, any investment...

Don’t Stop Poa...

My friends will tell you that I am big on tithing. And no, I don’t mean giving your hard earned cash to McCauley so he can buy another expensive suit and the wife can order an expensive spa package on their next trip to Mauritius. I mean giving 10% of your salary to an organisation where...

So you’re traveling to Thailand? Having been to Thailand twice, many of my friends have asked me for my little list of Do’s and Don’ts. For a person such as myself who has always been drawn by the mysteriousness of the east and its engaging seduction, Thailand was the...

Crunch Time

3 Years later. Glance at potatoes – increase. Visualise cream – grow. Think of drinking bubbles – multiply. Sinking deeper. But, eat nothing – decrease. Run the triathlon – decrease. Take drugs – gauntly decrease. No matter at what alternative you’re...

Maak my Baas Jun12

Maak my Baas

As...

Another Year Fucked Jan02

Another Year Fucked

Call me a slow thinker, but I’ve just gotten used to wrapping my fingers around writing 2010 and I’m already needing to pen 2011! Its as if 2010 was dressed in drag with a large “You idiot” sign, taunting me. I’m still at the 2009 new year party screaming “Happy new two thousand...

The Truth on Quitting Jun13

The Truth on Quittin...

I used to get most annoyed with people harping on about my smoking when they’ve never lit a cigarette in their entire lives, let alone ex-smokers. An ex-smoker is generally the worst kind of human, because while they realize every day how fantastic it was to stop smoking, they must...

The Taser Story May10

The Taser Story

An essential must read – this is not my story, but someone sent it to me and I have no idea who wrote it – but bless this person’s typing fingers because he surely is talented. Dear Friends, My wife Toni is fond of saying that my last words on this earth will be something akin to, “hey y’all, hold my beer and watch this!” Well, I have outdone myself once again. No doubt you will see this true story chronicled in a Lifetime movie in the near future. Here goes. Last weekend I spied something at Larry’s Pistol and Pawn that tickled my fancy. (Note: Keep in mind that my “fancy” is easily...

If you’ve ever watched Ricki Lake or Jerry Springer, you’ll know you’re bound to see some or other really fat person on the show. And I don’t mean Phat, as in cool. I mean FAAAAAT, as in huge, grotesque and plain ol’ obese. And when looking at that fat person, you so easily comment...

Get my name right da...

How difficult can it be? Ro-si-ka. It is not Row-si-ka. Neither is it Roo-si-ka. Not Row-zee-ka, Rob Roy, Rowena, Rowan, Roanna, Rothmans, Roland, Rhonda, Jessica or my favourite, Roshika. Truly, do I look indian? It remains 3 simple little syllables: Ro-si-ka. So I can understand if my name...
